IBM Asia’s Rebranding Pitch Experience

In a flurry of last-minute preparations, Zahra folded batik cloth with care, tucking each piece neatly into a box, while Nila nearby worked on cutting paper for tempeh packaging. Some team members rehearsed their lines for the pitch, and others double-checked their white shirts and black blazers to ensure they looked sharp.

This was crunch time for the IBM Crew’s final exam—a high-stakes rebranding pitch. Four groups were in the running: Jo Dough, specializing in artisanal donuts; the Batik team, blending tradition with modern appeal; the Tempe team, champions of sustainable food; and Salted Egg Crackers, the health-conscious snackers.

Each team had put in weeks of effort, tirelessly working to rebrand their selected products. The room buzzed with anticipation, excitement, and a bit of nervous energy. In a moment of calm before the big pitch, Hizkia, the IBM Crew’s president, led a prayer, offering everyone a chance to pause and refocus.

Sr. Danar then introduced the distinguished panel of judges, who would be assessing each group’s pitch. This was a valuable opportunity to connect with industry professionals and gain insight into the quality of their presentations. Each group stepped forward to present, as the judges listened attentively, nodding at times and probing with questions. After each pitch, the judges provided constructive feedback, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.

After a tense yet rewarding session, the teams celebrated each other’s hard work. Weeks of preparation had paid off, as everyone had executed their parts with precision. Ghea from the Tempe team shared her product with everyone for a taste test, and the room eagerly sampled each rebranded creation.

This pitching exercise was one of IBM Asia’s initiatives aimed at ensuring that students are well-prepared for careers in business and entrepreneurship. These activities sharpen essential skills, fostering both excitement and enthusiasm among students. At the end of the day, every skill-building event leaves the IBM Crew more equipped and eager for the challenges ahead.
